Alachua County Public Schools (ACPS) and the Alachua County Education Association (ACEA), which represents the district’s teachers and educational support professionals, have reached an agreement on salaries and contract language.
Under the agreement, employees will receive a total 4% raise for the 2025-26 fiscal year. That includes an average 1% raise almost all employees received at the beginning of their contract year. The raise will also be retroactive to the beginning of the contract year.
“This was definitely a win for both the district and the ACEA,” said Debbie Terry, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and the district’s chief negotiator. “The negotiations were very collaborative. Both sides listened to each other and there was mutual respect shown throughout the bargaining process.”
“The ACEA and the ACPS bargaining teams did an amazing and expedited job that we can both be proud of,” said Carmen Ward, president of the ACEA. “I feel that respect to employees was demonstrated, and we will continue to work together to do what is best for the people who serve the students of Alachua County.”
A ratification vote by employees will be held on Wednesday, October 29. Assuming the contract is ratified, it will go before the School Board for a vote during its regular meeting on November 4th. If approved, the goal is to have the raises and retroactive pay in employees’ first paycheck in November.
