The Lincoln Middle School Orchestra, under the direction of conductor Todd Eckstein, has earned a prestigious invitation to perform at the ASTA National Orchestra Festival (NOF), to be held February 25–28, 2026, in San Francisco, California.
This national recognition by the American String Teachers Association (ASTA) marks a significant milestone for the talented young musicians of Lincoln Middle School. The selection process for NOF is highly competitive, involving orchestras from across the United States who submit recordings and programs months in advance. Only the finest ensembles are invited to participate.
“This is a tremendous honor not just for our students, but for our entire school and community,” said Todd Eckstein, who has led the orchestra program at Lincoln Middle School for the past 18 years. “These students have worked incredibly hard and demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to their craft. I couldn’t be prouder.”
The ASTA National Orchestra Festival is one of the premier showcases for school and youth orchestras in the nation. Participation offers students the opportunity to perform on a national stage, receive feedback from world-class clinicians, and attend performances and workshops that inspire future musical growth. Lincoln Middle School’s orchestra program has long been recognized as one of the most accomplished in the state of Florida, with numerous superior-rated accolades and a reputation for musical excellence.
“The upcoming journey to San Francisco represents not only an artistic achievement but also a unique educational experience that will leave a lasting impact on the students,” said Eckstein.
The orchestra is currently engaging in fundraising efforts to help cover travel and lodging expenses for the February trip. Community members and supporters are encouraged to get involved and help ensure that every student has the opportunity to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
