Why I Chose Lincoln and Why You Should Too
By Sophia Williams
When I was little, I couldn’t wait to come to Lincoln. My older brother went here, and I loved
watching him play basketball in the gym. I remember sitting in the bleachers, dreaming about the
day I could be a cheerleader for Ms. V at Lincoln! Now that I’m here in the 8th grade, I’m proud
to be on the cheer team and part of the Thespian Troupe 88521! Being involved in the Lyceum
program, theater, and cheer has taught me so much about balance and time management.
Between practices, performances, and challenging classes, I’ve learned how to stay organized
and focused while still having fun.
What makes the Lyceum program so special is the people. The teachers here are absolutely
phenomenal! They really care about us, push us to do our best, and make learning fun and
meaningful. They don’t just teach lessons; they help us believe in ourselves. The friends I’ve
made at Lincoln are the kind who support each other, encourage each other, and grow together.
We all want to see each other succeed, and that makes a big difference.
Because of the Lyceum’s high expectations and supportive environment, I’ve been able to
accomplish a lot. I earned perfect scores on both the 7th-grade FAST ELA and on my Civics
EOC. When I leave Lincoln this spring, I will have completed six high school courses and feel
confident that I will succeed in the IB program at Eastside. Lincoln has given me a well-rounded
experience that has helped me grow as a student and as a person, and I know it’s preparing me
for my future goal of becoming a nurse practitioner one day.
