NHS band students had a tremendous performances at district Solo and Ensemble. Students took solos, duets, a quartet, a septet, and an octet to be performed in front of judges to give scores (superior being the highest grade) and guidance from judges for further improvement. Pieces are level 1-7 for difficulty, with most younger high school students playing 3-4 and the more advanced students playing 5-7.
Newberry had 23 band members participating in the event. Student performed in 18 events, earning a total of 35 superiors. Students in seven events qualified for state by earning a superior on a grade 5-7 piece.
