🐾 STUDENT ATHLETES! 🐾

Beginning with the 2026–27 school year, Florida will require EKG screenings for incoming high school athletes and first-time participants. Under the new rule, ALL incoming 9th grade student athletes will be required to have an EKG. The requirement also applies to any students in grades 10 through 12 who are participating in an FHSAA-sanctioned sport for the first time. Returning athletes who have already competed in FHSAA sports will not be required to complete the screening, although it is strongly encouraged.

The requirement officially goes into full effect on July 1, 2026; however, the timeline for compliance begins earlier. Athletic clearance registration for the 2026-27 school year opens on Monday (May 25, 2026), and beginning at that time a completed FHSAA EL1 EKG form will be required for any athlete who falls under the new mandate. Please speak with your coach or Coach Roundtree if you have any questions or need additional information. 💙💛
