For more information, please contact the front office at 352.472.1100.

Every student will bring home a flyer with instructions on how to activate their Read-A-Thon account. Once your student is registered, you’ll be able to log their daily reading minutes online. (Even if you don’t plan to fundraise, logging minutes through the online portal helps us track our schoolwide progress and students are still competing for the most minutes read!)
Our Goal:
We’re aiming for a school-wide total of 110,000 reading minutes!
That’s just 15 minutes a day per student — and every minute counts, whether your child is reading independently, reading to you, or listening as you read together.
Two Ways to Track Reading Minutes:
Preferred Method: Create your online account here → https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/bUFAsU?utm=email
Once your student is registered, log daily reading directly in the portal.
Paper Log: If you prefer, you can use the reading log that will be provided by your teacher. Be sure to turn it in at the end of each week!
Let’s show our Panther Pride and make this Read-A-Thon our best one yet!

"Life Is A Puzzle, Solve It Drug Free" — a powerful reminder that each choice we make is like fitting one piece into the bigger picture of a healthy, drug-free life..
Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug-prevention
awareness campaign in the U.S., launched in honor of DEA Agent
Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, who was tragically killed in 1985.
Originating from grassroots efforts—wearing red ribbons to
protest drug violence—it was formally established as a national
campaign in 1988.
Today, it's embraced by millions—from schools to families to
community groups—who wear red, hold assemblies, pledge to
live drug-free, and promote educated, healthy choices.
Unity Day is a national day of kindness, acceptance, and
inclusion, celebrated each October to show that we are
united against bullying. On this day, students, staff, and
communities wear orange to send a visible message that
we stand together for respect and understanding. It’s a
time to celebrate our differences, build connections, and
take action to make our schools and neighborhoods safe
and welcoming for everyone.
Wear orange. Show unity. Take a stand.
Flu Immunization Program Information 2025
Alachua County Public School students can once again receive a free nasal spray vaccine for the flu at school during the school day.
The Alachua County Health Department is offering free FluMist to all eligible students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. Flu Mist is a gentle mist sprayed into the nose, and it’s a safe and effective way to protect your child and your family from the flu.
There is NO COST to you for the vaccine. If your child has health insurance, that information will be collected and the insurance company will be billed, but there will be NO co-pay or deductible for families. Children with no health insurance are also eligible for the free vaccine.
We encourage you to read through the Parent Letter, Vaccine Information Statement and Privacy Notice included on this page. https://www.alachuaschools.net/o/acps/page/flu-immunization-program-information-2025
Then complete the Consent Form and have your child return it to school even if you do not want your child to receive the vaccine.
For more information contact the Health Department at (352) 334-7916.
Newberry Elementary will be offering the Flu mist on Thursday, October 23rd.
