Today, Alachua County Public Schools administrators and literacy specialists had the opportunity to learn from UFLI Foundations authors Dr. Holly Lane and Dr. Valentina Contesse, along with Implementation Specialists Angela Wells and Ashley Lee.
As we enter Year 6 of UFLI Foundations implementation, our school leaders deepened their understanding of high-quality Tier 1 foundational skills instruction, with a focus on the features of effective instruction, Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), and instructional coaching.
"Leading for Impact: Supporting Effective Implementation of UFLI Foundations within an MTSS Framework" was an engaging day of learning that reinforced our shared commitment to ensuring every student receives evidence-based literacy instruction and every educator is supported in implementing it with fidelity.

Terrific progress being made on the PreK-4th grade facility at Oak View K-8 School, including the modular buildings, covered walkways, a new bus loop, a new parent pickup/drop off for PreK-4 and a soon-to-be covered court!
All ACPS buildings will be closed on Thursday, July 2nd and Friday, July 3rd in honor of the Independence Day holiday.

Kindergarten Kick-Off is this Wednesday, May 6 at 2:15 for all schools that serve elementary students EXCEPT the new Oak View K-8 School in Newberry, which will hold its Kick-Off at 3:30 pm. Great opportunity for incoming kindergarteners and their families to meet teachers and staff, tour the campus and learn more about their school!

This past month, 112 teachers, 19 literacy specialists, and 50 school leaders from 25 schools took part in our Expansion of Model of Instruction training.
Based on Instructional Empowerment, the focus is on student-centered, team-based classrooms with active learning and meaningful discussion. Participants practiced strategies that shift learning from teacher-led to student-driven, helping students think critically, collaborate, and take ownership.
We’re building toward higher achievement, stronger engagement, and more student ownership. Take a look some photos that show our educators doing that work themselves!
