Great partnerships create life-changing opportunities. This summer, Hawthorne students took another exciting step toward their futures as we hosted our first-ever on-campus PERT administration! This milestone would not have been possible without Ms. Doll's dedication, advocacy, and commitment to removing barriers for students pursuing dual enrollment. Thank you for helping our Hornets thrive! 🧡🖤

A leadership development opportunity for teens
Rising juniors and seniors who are interested in dual enrollment should come take the PERT at Hawthorne on June 24th at 10:00 AM.

Students who applied for the fall but did not gain acceptance are encouraged to take the section of the PERT that they did not pass. Ms. Doll is working with the DE office to review applications for the fall based on new test scores.

A promotional flyer for Hawthorne Middle High School advertising a dual enrollment PERT testing opportunity. The background features a softly blurred photograph of the school campus with palm trees under a blue sky. Across the top are curved black and orange graphic accents. At the upper left, black text reads “Hawthorne Middle High School.” Below it, a script-style title reads “Dual Enrollment,” followed by large bold text stating “PERT Testing Opportunity.” In the upper right, a large white circle outlined in orange displays the event date and location: “WED 6/24 @ HMHS.” The lower half of the flyer features an illustration of a graduate viewed from behind, wearing a black graduation gown and mortarboard cap with an orange tassel. The graduate has long brown hair and is positioned in front of the campus background. To the right of the graduate is a white information box with black text that reads: “Are you a rising junior or senior interested in pursuing dual enrollment at Santa Fe College? Take the PERT test at Hawthorne on June 24, 2026. Testing will begin promptly at 10:00 AM. PERT test scores are valid for one year.” At the bottom right, a white rounded rectangle with orange text states: “Contact Karen Doll for more information.” The flyer uses the school colors of black, orange, and white and promotes an upcoming PERT testing opportunity for students interested in dual enrollment through Santa Fe College.

A school flyer with a modern scrapbook-style design promotes sixth-grade elective selection. The background is light gray with a faint grid pattern. At the top, large bold black text reads “ATTENTION INCOMING SIXTH GRADERS,” arranged diagonally across the page. To the right of the headline, smaller typewriter-style text reads “HOME OF THE CHAMPIONS.” Orange handwritten-style accents, including a looping arrow and a large signature-like flourish, add emphasis around the title. Decorative torn-paper elements and a black binder clip create a layered collage effect. Near the lower center of the flyer is a large QR code framed by an orange border and mounted on a torn-paper graphic. To the lower right is the school’s hornet mascot logo in black, white, and orange. Beside the mascot, an orange rounded rectangle contains white text reading “ELECTIVE SELECTION FORM.” The overall color scheme is black, orange, white, and light gray, giving the flyer a bold, energetic, and school-spirited appearance while directing students to scan the QR code to complete their elective selection form.

Our middle school engineering students wrapped up the 3rd nine weeks with an out‑of‑this‑world launch, and they did it using nothing more than everyday school supplies like cardstock and tape. Under the guidance of Mr. Murray, students explored design, precision, and problem‑solving as they sent their handmade rockets soaring skyward. Their hard work and curiosity continue to lift learning to new heights, and we’re grateful for Mr. Murray’s dedication to helping them reach for the stars.

A big congratulations goes to Robert A., whose rocket traveled the farthest distance in the first launch of the day. A special shout‑out also goes to Savannah S., whose final‑round rocket flew the farthest overall, coming within just a few feet of a full football field. Both students showed impressive creativity, perseverance, and engineering know‑how.
