Wildcat Nation: This is a reminder that TONIGHT at 5:30, we are hosting a Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (F.A.S.T.) Parent Night here on campus for 3rd through 5th grade families! Come learn how best to support your students through the end of the year testing window! 3rd Grade will meet in the Media Center and 4th and 5th Grade will meet in our Multipurpose Room. Families will interact with our teachers to learn about the testing requirements and ways to support your Wildcat scholar. Our 3rd Grade families will learn about why this is a mandatory retention year for 3rd graders who do not receive a level 2 on the ELA assessment and what alternatives are available. We look forward to seeing you tonight!

ICYMI: The week before break was LIVE at Metcalfe Elementary! Before we headed to a much need week of rest and relaxation, the Wildcats were busy! Our PTA hosted an INCREDIBLY successful Book Fair where our students were overjoyed to get new materials to continue their love of reading! Thank you, President Washington and the PTA team, for initiating this amazing opportunity for our students!
Not only was that Friday the final day of the MES Book Fair, but our students also received a free book courtesy of our community sponsors and partners supporting learning at Metcalfe Elementary! The students were SO excited to receive their new (free) books!
Our final day before Spring Break culminated in an amazing PBIS event - Metcalfe Spring Field Day! Our BRT, Ms. Allen, put on an incredible celebration of all the hard work of our students to work towards being their best self every day! There was even a couple teacher v. student kickball games! Dr. Oglesby had a homerun!!
Now, we settle in and get back to work on exceeding our goals! Be sure to have your student to school EARLY every day as we move toward the end of the year. Our students are capable, they are intelligent, they are talented, and they are driven!! Go Wildcats!

Our students excel in more than academics and sports! This week, our 4th and 5th grade violin students performed at the Phillips Center with the Gainesville Orchestra! They have been working hard all year to learn how to play the violin and experience their first professional performance! We are SO incredibly proud of their hard work and the exposure to the arts they have received! Let's hear it for our Musical Wildcats and their teacher, Mr. Norman!
Full S.T.E.A.M. ahead!!! This week was another S.T.E.A.M.-filled Wednesday with incredible projects happening around campus! From our 4th graders creating musical instruments out of household items our 1st graders engineering towers using marshmallows, pasta, and straws - the Wildcats are showing their creativity and elevating their executive function!

A time was HAD today at the Metcalfe Elementary Valentine's Day Dance fundraiser hosted by Ms. Welch and the Safety Patrols! Our students were getting down and having a great time! Enjoy your extended weekend and be safe!!

From door decorations to bulletin boards to mystery Black History Hero of the day, we are learning about the many African American pioneers of our country! Celebrate Black History Month with us as we honor those who marched so we can run!

Wildcat Nation!! Don't miss our Valentine's Day Dance this coming Thursday, February 12th in the Metcalfe Cafetorium! There will be great music and a lot of fun! Tickets are $3 and the proceeds will go toward funding our the Safety Patrols! Kindergarten through 2nd grade will be from 12:25 to 1:00 and 3rd through 5th will be from 1:05 to 1:40. It's time to LEVEL UP!!! This week we celebrated our Intermediate students (3rd, 4th, and 5th grade) who moved up a "bucket" or increased their score by more than 50% towards gains on the PM2 FAST Assessment! We celebrate the academic growth they have shown towards reaching their end of the year goals! Students moved their Data Cards to their new placements (Wednesday) and then we enjoyed some Hawaiian Shaved Ice while we honored all of our positive academic progress (Friday)! See if you can spot our guest Emcees! Wildcats, keep working hard and doing your best and we'll continue to LEVEL UP!!!
