Check out some of the ways the Wildcat Nation is celebrating Black History Month! From door decorations to bulletin boards to mystery Black History Hero of the day, we are learning about the many African American pioneers of our country! Celebrate Black History Month with us as we honor those who marched so we can run!

Every week that your student is on time AND present EVERY DAY at school, YOUR name gets placed into a drawing to receive a $50 gift card provided by our amazing Metcalfe PTA! The drawing will take place on February 12th so you have one more week to work towards that prize! Attendance is INCREDIBLY important at Metcalfe Elementary - if our students are not at school, they cannot learn and progress toward their goals. Wildcat Nation!! Don't miss our Valentine's Day Dance this coming Thursday, February 12th in the Metcalfe Cafetorium! There will be great music and a lot of fun! Tickets are $3 and the proceeds will go toward funding our the Safety Patrols! Kindergarten through 2nd grade will be from 12:25 to 1:00 and 3rd through 5th will be from 1:05 to 1:40. It's time to LEVEL UP!!! This week we celebrated our Intermediate students (3rd, 4th, and 5th grade) who moved up a "bucket" or increased their score by more than 50% towards gains on the PM2 FAST Assessment! We celebrate the academic growth they have shown towards reaching their end of the year goals! Students moved their Data Cards to their new placements (Wednesday) and then we enjoyed some Hawaiian Shaved Ice while we honored all of our positive academic progress (Friday)! See if you can spot our guest Emcees! Wildcats, keep working hard and doing your best and we'll continue to LEVEL UP!!!

Sometime you just have to find a comfy spot to enjoy your book! These scholars were VERY creative with relaxing while reading! We celebrate Literacy this week and EVERY week at Metcalfe Elementary because reading is FUN-damental!








Yesterday was Book Character Day and our students were decked out! Even our teachers got involved! From Spider-man to Luna Lovegood, many characters from various literary genres were represented! What's YOUR favorite book character?

Reading is FUN-damental at Metcalfe Elementary School!! This week, the wildcats have been celebrating reading with Literacy Week! From "Dress as a Vocabulary " to hosting a number of "mystery readers" today, we ROARING through READING!! The more we read, the better we learn! Have you read with your Wildcat lately??

Last Friday, the brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi joined the Metcalfe Wildcats for a National Day of Reading. They came to the campus and read to our Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd graders. We are grateful for community partners like the brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi. Thank you for taking the time to invest in our wildcats!

Graduation rates for the seven ACPS high schools rose in 2025, from 92.7% to 93.9%. All seven schools posted rates above 90%.
