🎉 October is National Principal Appreciation Month! 🎉
We’re proud to celebrate one of the very best — Mr. Purvis! 👏
He shows up to every event, knows students by name, and is the person they go to just to chat. Loved by his faculty, staff, and students alike, he truly makes BHS a great place to be. 💛🖤

Did you know? In order to graduate, students must meet specific state testing requirements. If they don’t initially meet the benchmarks, they can still qualify by earning a concordant score on approved assessments like the SAT or ACT. ✅
📌 What this means for you:
Review your test scores regularly.
Have strong attendance
Contact your school counselor if you have questions about testing status or concordant options.
Staying informed helps keep you on track for graduation and future success! 🌟

📚✨ Attendance Matters! ✨📚
Did you know students should miss no more than 9 days of school per year to stay on track for success? By 9th grade, attendance is an even better predictor of graduation than test scores!
✅ Make school attendance a priority.
✅ Keep daily routines strong—homework, rest, and healthy habits.
✅ Stay engaged—monitor progress, encourage friendships, and support involvement in sports & clubs.
✅ Communicate with your school about attendance policies and support.
Together, we can help every student thrive—because showing up is the first step to success! 💪🎓

Our AFJROTC cadets participated in a 9/11 Stair Climb to honor the lives lost in the September 11 terrorist attacks. Following this tribute, they completed a 7.8K run/walk in celebration of the U.S. Air Force’s 78th birthday.
To close out the day, cadets had the special opportunity to visit the University of Florida Air Force ROTC facility, where UF cadets graciously provided a guided tour and shared insights into their program.
Go Bobcats!

On August 11, 19 AFJROTC Bobcats woke up early and volunteered at a Homes for Our Troops community service event
The mission of Homes for Our Troops is “to build and donate specially adapted custom homes nationwide for severely injured post-9/11 veterans, to enable them to rebuild their lives.”
Our cadets helped set up, clean up, and run the powerful Key Ceremony, where a disabled veteran and his family were given the keys to their new home. It was an emotional and inspiring event.
We’re so proud of our Bobcats for their service and leadership! 🖤💛
🎉 Congratulations to Annika C, Pranay G, Shailey K, Evan R and Keith Z who have been named Semifinalists in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program!
This honor, awarded by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, recognizes fewer than 1% of high school seniors nationwide. We are so proud of their hard work, dedication, and achievement!
