Boundaries are the invisible lines that help children and adults feel safe, respected, and understood. They guide how we treat ourselves and how we expect others to treat us. Healthy boundaries build self-respect, prevent burnout, and support clear, caring communication at home, at school, and beyond.
There are different types of boundaries—permeable (too open), rigid (too closed), and flexible (the ideal balance). Teaching children to recognize boundary violations—like ignoring a “no,” guilt-tripping, manipulating, or invading privacy—is an important part of helping them navigate relationships safely.
Parents can support healthy boundary-building by encouraging children to express their needs, validating their feelings, and modeling respectful communication. Start small: talk about personal space, screen time, or how to handle uncomfortable situations. Show what healthy boundaries look like through your own actions.
Try simple conversation starters like:
💬 “What’s something you wish people would stop doing?”
💬 “Is it hard for you to say no?”
Helping your child understand and practice boundaries gives them tools for lifelong emotional well-being and strong, respectful relationships.

Showing up to school every day has a huge impact on your child’s success. Missing just a few days a month can affect learning, grades, and even graduation.
✅ Did you know?
Missing 10% (or 2 days a month) can affect academic success.
By 9th grade, attendance is a better predictor of graduation than 8th grade test scores.
Students should miss no more than 9 days each school year.
👨👩👧 What families can do:
✔️ Make attendance a daily priority.
✔️ Keep routines consistent and healthy.
✔️ Stay engaged with your teen and their teachers.
✔️ Communicate with the school if challenges arise.
