The musical abilities of our Whimsical Wildcats was on full display tonight as our Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 4th and 5th grade violinists showed off their skills! We are grateful to partner with the Gainesville Orchestra, who provides professional instruction to our students! Congratulations, Mr. Norman, and our students on a performance well done!

Attendance Matters at Metcalfe Elementary! Students who attend school regularly and arrive on time have the best chances for success!! This week we celebrate these amazing homerooms for the best attendance in their grade levels!! Who will have the best attendance this week??

Wildcat Families - Tomorrow begins our final F.A.S.T. Progress Monitoring Assessment, also known as PM3!!! Tomorrow, 4th and 5th grade Wildcats will be completing the FAST PM3 for ELA. On Thursday, May 14th, our 3rd grade Wildcats will be completing the Math PM3 assessment. This will continue the following week with 4th and 5th grade students completing the Math PM3 assessments on Tuesday, May 19th and 3rd grade taking the ELA PM3 test on Thursday, May 21st. 5th grade will also complete the Science Assessment on Friday, May 22nd. Please be sure students get plenty of rest this evening (and every evening before their test day) and are at school EARLY for preparation for their assessment. Students are allowed on campus at 7:15 and we will begin test preparation PROMPTLY at 7:45. They can eat breakfast on campus, but may love a homecooked meal if possible to start their day as well!

Let's encourage and prepare our students to shine like we know they are capable of!!

Almost immediately after notifying families and staff about the worldwide Canvas data breach, we were notified that Alachua County Public Schools was NOT affected by the breach.

Families should be on the lookout for a personalized letter (US Mail) from Alachua County Public Schools with important information on school zone lines for 2026-27.

We remain extremely grateful for your support, encouragement, and partnership! It takes a village and we are grateful!

Metcalfe families and friends are invited to the Music & Arts Spring Showcase on May 15 at 5:30 pm in the Cafeteria. Doors open at 5:00 pm. Kindergarten, 1st grade, and our violin program have been practicing songs to perform, please bring those students to this performance opportunity if you are able to attend! Be sure to come out and support our Musical Wildcats as they show off their hard work!! We hope to see you there!

The Metcalfe Elementary Teachers and Staff are INCREDIBLY grateful for the support of such an amazing Parent Teacher Association! Yesterday, they provided a luncheon in honor of Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week! Thank you, Metcalfe PTA, for your continued support of our Metcalfe community!

We had a great time yesterday as we welcomed our incoming kindergarten students! If you have a student entering Metcalfe as a kindergartener it is not too late to get the necessary information to ensure that they are kindergarten ready! Be sure to get them registered as soon as possible for a smooth transition! Contact the front office for more information!

One of the things that makes Metcalfe Elementary such a GREAT place to be is our community partnerships! Thank you, Wesley United Methodist Church, for partnering with us and support our teachers and staff during Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week! WUMC provided an assortment of food for breakfast to make sure our teachers and staff were fueled and ready for the day! It takes a village and we are grateful!

Happy Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week!!! This week, we celebrate the INCREDIBLE work of our PHENOMENAL teaching faculty and staff at Metcalfe Elementary School! It is because of their dedication and commitment that Metcalfe is an amazing and safe place to learn! Thank you for all you do to make our school great! We hope you feel appreciated not just today but EVERY day!!

What better way to celebrate Principal Appreciation Day than with a PBIS Celebration led by Ms. Allen and her team?! Today, students used their wildcat cash earned for demonstrating our Metcalfe P.A.W.S. expectations to participate in today’s EXTRAVAGANZA!! The students AND teachers had a great time celebrating the successes of our school community…and our awesome principal! It’s always great to be a Metcalfe Wildcat! Thank you, Ms. Allen and your team, for all you do to make our school community great!

We can’t let today go by without wishing a Happy Principal Appreciation to our fearless leader, Dr. Tony Oglesby!! Thank you for everything you do to make Metcalfe one of the leading schools in the district! The Wildcat Nation is SO grateful to have you leading our school to greatness! Enjoy your cruise!!

A GREAT time was had last night at Metcalfe Elementary! Thank you to everyone who came out to our annual S.T.E.A.M. Carnival! From making "Elephant Toothpaste", "Homemade Ice Cream", and "Slime", to Sack Races, Ring toss, and face-painting, the Wildcat Nation enjoyed an evening of education and activity! A special thank you to our ACPS School Board Members, Thomas Vu (chair) and Tina Certain, who came out to support the event! HUGE appreciation to our Wildcat teachers and staff who served and made the evening special. Thank you, Metcalfe PTA Board for your support and participation, as well! SHOUTOUT to Mrs. Tracy Brown-Roberts and her team for putting on our greatest S.T.E.A.M. Carnival yet!! Looking forward to more to come! Stay tuned on ways that you can continue to support and participate in our Metcalfe Elementary Family!

Last Friday, two of our shining star Wildcats, Faith Turner and Michaela Chadwick, had the opportunity to represent Metcalfe Elementary in the Alachua County Elementary Honor Choir! This group of students from around the county worked with a professional clinician to put on a spectacular concert after a full day of hard work. Congratulations, Faith and Michaela, for your selection to this prestigious group and representing Metcalfe so well! We are incredibly proud of you!
