REMINDER: Panthers, don't forget to bring your laptop and charging cord to school EVERY DAY as most of the testing this year will be done on the laptops. Additionally, these laptops provide important access to digital textbooks and assist students in transitioning between classwork, testing, and homework. (If your laptop has stopped working or has other operational issues, please bring it to the NHS Front Office so we can investigate and diagnose any issues.)

The annual PowderBuff game will be held during 5th and 6th periods on Friday (November 21st) and tickets are now on sale for $3.00. See Mrs. Spina before or after school to get your ticket!

REMINDER: NHS is a closed campus and students are not permitted to leave campus for lunch. Additionally, students may not have food dropped off or delivered to them at campus. Students are not allowed to bring Polar Cups or “to go” cups to campus. Water bottles are encouraged and we have several bottle filling stations around campus.

The National Honor Society will hold its induction ceremony for the Class of 2028 tonight in the NHS Auditorium beginning at 6:00 pm. Congratulations!

REMINDER: For the safety and security of everyone on campus, please DO NOT open the entrance gate for anyone, even if you think you may know them. Students and visitors MUST ONLY be let into our campus by staff in the NHS Front Office. If you are asked to open the gate, please let them know that they must ring the bell to be buzzed in.

TOMORROW is the last day of our annual food drive! Our goal is to feed 30 families this year and we haven’t yet met that goal. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. The 1st period class that completes the most boxes this year will win a coffee and donut breakfast party. What a wonderful way to start the holiday season!

REMINDER: ALL STUDENTS parking on NHS school property MUST have a parking decal and parking is ONLY permitted in designated areas (junior and senior parking lots). NO parking is allowed in any other areas on campus, including along the gym or the football field. If you park in any unauthorized area on the NHS campus, your vehicle is subject to a ticket and the possibility of being towed from the property.

Our annual food drive for Thanksgiving is continuing through Tuesday (November 18th)! Our goal is to feed 30 families this year and we desperately need your help. The 1st period class that completes the most boxes this year will win a coffee and donut breakfast party. What a wonderful way to start the holiday season!

REMINDER: A new law passed by the Florida Legislature significantly limits when students may use cell phones or other personal wireless communication devices, such as smartwatches, earbuds, headphones, and tablets. These devices must remain powered off and stored out of sight during instructional time. Students have access to district-approved instructional technology throughout the school day and families who need to reach their child due to an emergency or other safety concern should contact the NHS Front Office directly.

If you know which pose you would like to do, please include that when you contact Mrs. Treese. The deadline to register for this is tomorrow!

Here are the announcements for Thursday, November 6th:

REMINDER: A new law passed by the Florida Legislature significantly limits when students may use cell phones or other personal wireless communication devices, such as smartwatches, earbuds, headphones, and tablets. These devices must remain powered off and stored out of sight during instructional time. Students have access to district-approved instructional technology throughout the school day and families who need to reach their child due to an emergency or other safety concern should contact the NHS Front Office directly.

Our annual food drive for Thanksgiving is continuing through Tuesday (November 18th)! Our goal is to feed 30 families this year and we desperately need your help. The 1st period class that completes the most boxes this year will win a coffee and donut breakfast party. What a wonderful way to start the holiday season!

This is an informative aptitude test used to determine qualification for enlistment in the military. REMINDER: Panthers, don't forget to bring your laptop and charging cord to school EVERY DAY as most of the testing this year will be done on the laptops. Additionally, these laptops provide important access to digital textbooks and assist students in transitioning between classwork, testing, and homework. (If your laptop has stopped working or has other operational issues, please bring it to the NHS Front Office so we can investigate and diagnose any issues.)

Our annual food drive for Thanksgiving is continuing through Tuesday (November 18th)! Our goal is to feed 30 families this year and we desperately need your help. REMINDER: NHS is a closed campus and students are not permitted to leave campus for lunch. Additionally, students may not have food dropped off or delivered to them at campus. Students are not allowed to bring Polar Cups or “to go” cups to campus. Water bottles are encouraged and we have several bottle filling stations around campus.

Our annual food drive for Thanksgiving is continuing through Tuesday (November 18th)! Our goal is to feed 30 families this year and we desperately need your help. Representatives from the Take Stock in Children will be available in the NHS Commons Area during Lunch A and Lunch B tomorrow to provide information about the Program. This Program is for students in 6th through 9th grade who are enrolled in an Alachua County Public School or Florida Public School of Choice, maintain a 2.5 GPA and good behavior, and are financially eligible. During the Program, students are paired with a mentor and meet during lunch at least twice monthly during the school year. Upon high school graduation, students receive a 2-year college scholarship. REMINDER: ALL STUDENTS parking on NHS school property MUST have a parking decal and parking is ONLY permitted in designated areas (junior and senior parking lots). NO parking is allowed in any other areas on campus, including along the gym or the football field. If you park in any unauthorized area on the NHS campus, your vehicle is subject to a ticket and the possibility of being towed from the property.

It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther! 🐾
Here are the announcements for Tuesday, October 28th:

REMINDER: NHS is a closed campus and students are not permitted to leave campus for lunch. Additionally, students may not have food dropped off or delivered to them at campus. Students are not allowed to bring Polar Cups or “to go” cups to campus. Water bottles are encouraged and we have several bottle filling stations around campus.

Our annual food drive for Thanksgiving will continue through Tuesday (November 18th)! Our goal is to feed 30 families this year and we desperately need your help. The 1st period class that completes the most boxes this year will win a coffee and donut breakfast party. What a wonderful way to start the holiday season!

The 2025 Fall Formal Dance will be on Friday (November 14th) from 8:00 pm until 11:30 pm at the Newberry Municipal Building. This Dance is for NHS students only and attire is appropriate semi-formal. Tickets for the Dance are $25.00 and will be on sale during Lunch A and Lunch B on Thursday (October 30th), and before and after school in Mrs. Spina’s classroom through Wednesday (November 5th). Make sure to get your ticket before they sell out!

Are you interested in earning some volunteer hours? Stop by and see Mrs. Spina to sign up to volunteer with set up and take down for the Newberry Fall Festival on Saturday (November 15th).

Representatives from the US Air Force are scheduled to be on the NHS campus tomorrow during Lunch A and Lunch B to provide information about military service after graduation. Make sure to stop by if you’d like to receive information.

The Debate Club will meet after school tomorrow at 3:00 pm in the NHS Media Center.

The FCA will have a meeting before school this Friday (October 31st) at 8:10 am in the NHS Gym. If you’d like to become involved, make sure to stop by!

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) will be offered on the NHS campus during the school day on 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 (𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 13𝐭𝐡) to any student in 10th through 12th grade. This is an informative aptitude test used to determine qualification for enlistment in the military. Make sure to stop by the NHS Guidance Office to sign up if you are interested in taking the ASVAB Test. Remember, this test is only given once a year so don’t miss your chance to take it!

Newberry High School is having a Talent Show! The show will take place on Thursday (December 18th) during 5th and 6th period in the NHS Auditorium. Tickets will be $5.00 per person. Please see Ms. Holyoke in her classroom before or after school to purchase tickets. For anyone interested in auditioning to perform during the Talent Show, please sign up using the form by Ms. Holyoke's classroom door. All money raised will support our art program. REMINDER: ALL STUDENTS parking on NHS school property MUST have a parking decal and parking is ONLY permitted in designated areas (junior and senior parking lots). NO parking is allowed in any other areas on campus, including along the gym or the football field. If you park in any unauthorized area on the NHS campus, your vehicle is subject to a ticket and the possibility of being towed from the property.

Report Cards for the 1st Quarter of the 2025-26 school year are now available for viewing in Skyward. If you have any issues in viewing the report card or are unable to access Skyward, please contact Mrs. Honeycutt in the NHS Guidance Office for assistance.

For all boys interested in playing basketball, tryouts will be held on Monday (October 27th) at 3:00 pm on the outdoor courts. Leading up to tryouts, conditioning will be on Mondays and Wednesdays at 3:00 pm until October 27th. See Coach Green if you are interested.

REMINDER: Panthers, don't forget to bring your laptop and charging cord to school EVERY DAY as most of the testing this year will be done on the laptops. Additionally, these laptops provide important access to digital textbooks and assist students in transitioning between classwork, testing, and homework. (If your laptop has stopped working or has other operational issues, please bring it to the NHS Front Office so we can investigate and diagnose any issues.)

Tonight’s HOME Varsity football game vs. the Williston Red Devils will be a BLACKOUT and there will be a shirt giveaway with a paid ticket while supplies last. Kickoff time has been changed to 7:00 pm. Don’t be late!!

Tomorrow, the FluMist vaccine will be given to all students at Newberry High School who have returned the signed and completed Consent Form. It’s not too late to turn in your form if you are interested.

Are you interested in earning some volunteer hours? Stop by and see Mrs. Spina to sign up to volunteer at the Lion's Club Rodeo this weekend (Friday, October 24th, and Saturday, October 25th). There are limited spaces, so be sure to sign up as soon as possible. By volunteering you will also receive free entry to the Rodeo and a food voucher.

Panthers, tardy sweeps have begun! If you are not in class when the bell rings, you will be required to serve one day of lunch detention. Beat the bell, stay out of detention, and start class ready to go! Your lunch will taste better in the cafeteria! See Dean Burford or Dean Burkett if you have any questions.
