REMINDER: ALL STUDENTS parking on NHS school property MUST have a parking decal and parking is ONLY permitted in designated areas (junior and senior parking lots). NO parking is allowed in any other areas on campus, including along the gym or the football field. If you park in any unauthorized area on the NHS campus, your vehicle is subject to being towed from the property.
Registration for Driver Education LAB ONLY classes is open at the ACPS website: https://www.alachuaschools.net/page/drivered/ . There are three remaining sessions available with a non-refundable $200.00 lab fee. You must already have a valid Learner’s Permit and submit proof of Driver Education Course completion to be eligible to participate. Please call (352) 955-6959 or email hayeskw@alachuaschools.net if you have any questions or to confirm any online enrollment.
After school CROP sessions for students who are credit deficient for graduation will continue next week after school (Monday through Thursday) in Computer Lab 2 from 3:15 pm until 6:15 pm. Fall Driver Education
Alachua County Public Schools is offering two options this fall:
🔹 Behind-the-Wheel Lab Only – for students who have already completed a Driver Education classroom course.
🔹 Classroom + Lab – for students who have not yet taken a Driver Education course (earn .5 credit).
Requirements:
✔ Must be 15 or older
✔ Must have a Learner’s Permit (for Lab Only option)
📅 Classes begin this fall
💲 Fees: $200 (Lab Only) | $250 (Classroom + Lab)

REMINDER: A new law passed by the Florida Legislature significantly limits when students may use cell phones or other personal wireless communication devices, such as smartwatches, earbuds, headphones, and tablets. These devices must remain powered off and stored out of sight during instructional time. Students have access to district-approved instructional technology throughout the school day and families who need to reach their child due to an emergency or other safety concern should contact the NHS Front Office directly.
Parking is now being strictly enforced on campus. Please see Mr. Treese in the CJ building before school or during Lunch B to get your decal ASAP. Be sure to have your driver's license, vehicle registration, and $30.00 (cash or check made payable to Newberry High School).

Additionally, these laptops provide important access to digital textbooks and assist students in transitioning between classwork, testing, and homework. (If your laptop has stopped working or has other operational issues, please bring it to the NHS Front Office so we can investigate and diagnose any issues.)

Students must purchase a parking permit and cure the violation on Monday because parking consequences will be strictly enforced beginning Tuesday (September 30th). Be sure to have your driver's license, vehicle registration, and $30.00 (cash or check made payable to Newberry High School).
After school CROP sessions for students who are credit deficient for graduation will continue next week after school (Monday through Thursday) in Computer Lab 2 from 3:15 pm until 6:15 pm. Please note we are not able to offer CROP sessions during the school day this year, so this will be the opportunity to earn replacement grades for credit deficiencies until we offer after school CROP sessions in spring, 2026 (dates to be determined). REMINDER: A new law passed by the Florida Legislature significantly limits when students may use cell phones or other personal wireless communication devices, such as smartwatches, earbuds, headphones, and tablets. These devices must remain powered off and stored out of sight during instructional time. This means if the student’s phone is out at any point during class, they may be written up, regardless of the activity. Students have access to district-approved instructional technology throughout the school day and families who need to reach their child due to an emergency or other safety concern should contact the NHS Front Office directly.
ATTENTION: Parking violation notices were placed on vehicles yesterday. REMINDER: ALL STUDENTS parking on NHS school property MUST have a parking decal and parking is ONLY permitted in designated areas (junior and senior parking lots). NO parking is allowed in any other areas on campus, including along the gym or the football field. If you park in any unauthorized area on the NHS campus, your vehicle is subject to being towed from the property.
After school CROP sessions for students who are credit deficient for graduation will continue next week after school (Monday through Thursday) in Computer Lab 2 from 3:15 pm until 6:15 pm. Please note we are not able to offer CROP sessions during the school day this year, so this will be the opportunity to earn replacement grades for credit deficiencies until we offer after school CROP sessions in spring, 2026 (dates to be determined). These devices must remain powered off and stored out of sight during instructional time. Students have access to district-approved instructional technology throughout the school day and families who need to reach their child due to an emergency or other safety concern should contact the NHS Front Office directly.

Progress Reports for the first grading window of the school year will be available in Skyward on Tuesday (September 16th). If you are unable to view the Progress Report in Skyward, please contact the NHS Guidance Office for assistance.
Our 2025-26 Open House will be held on Tuesday (September 16th) beginning at 6:00 pm. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to visit each of your child's classrooms and see all the amazing things happening in the classrooms and around campus. We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday!
The Annual Updates are open in Skyward Family Access for families and changes or updates will be permitted until September 30th. Parents, please take a moment to access your Skyward account in order to review/update your child’s information, emergency contacts, the Student Code of Conduct, the Consent for Health Services form, and more.

REMINDER: ALL STUDENTS parking on NHS school property MUST have a parking decal and parking is ONLY permitted in designated areas (junior and senior parking lots). NO parking is allowed in any other areas on campus, including along the gym or the football field. If you park in any unauthorized area on the NHS campus, your vehicle is subject to being towed from the property.
After school CROP sessions for students who are credit deficient for graduation will be held after school beginning on Monday (September 15th) in Computer Lab 2 from 3:15 pm until 6:15 pm. Please note we are not able to offer CROP sessions during the school day this year, so this will be the opportunity to earn replacement grades for credit deficiencies until we offer after school CROP sessions in spring, 2026 (dates to be determined). If you have any questions, please contact the NHS Guidance Office ASAP.
Are you interested in becoming a part of our co-ed competition cheer team? Come out to one of our interest meetings: Monday (September 15th) at 7:00 pm or Monday (September 22nd) at 7:00 pm in the NHS Auditorium.
