🚨 Kindergarten Registration Emergency Alert 🚨

Do you know a child who will be 5 years old on or before September 1?

Tell your neighbor.
Tell your cousin.
Tell your wife.
Tell your husband.
Tell your barber.
Tell your yard guy.
Tell the person behind you in line at Publix.
Tell that one friend who somehow misses every important deadline.

📢 Kindergarten registration for next school year needs to happen NOW!

If you know a family with an incoming kindergartener, please encourage them to register as soon as possible. Early registration helps us hire staff, plan classrooms, and make sure we're ready to welcome our newest Eagles on day one.

Don't assume someone else has told them. Become the kindergarten registration ambassador your community needs.

Facebook was basically invented for this moment. Start tagging people. Use the @ sign like you're handing out free concert tickets. If they have a 5-year-old, know a 5-year-old, have seen a 5-year-old, or suspect a 5-year-old may exist in their family tree, tag them.

☎️ And when they call the school, tell them to ask about our Kindergarten Entry Screener. It gives us valuable information that helps us get to know each child and make sure we're ready to help them soar from day one.

🐣 Future Eagles are counting on you!

For registration information, email us at hastiecn@alachuaschools.net or call the school at (386) 462-5002

Register!
Irby Parents,

If you would like to provide input regarding your child's classroom placement for next school year, you may submit a letter to Mrs. Burton describing your child and the type of classroom environment or teacher characteristics that you feel would best support your child's success.

The information you provide will be thoughtfully considered when class assignments are made. However, please understand that specific teachers may not be requested by name, and requests to be placed with friends cannot be guaranteed.

To help ensure that all requests are considered fairly, we kindly ask that letters focus on your child's needs and learning style rather than mentioning specific teachers or other students.

Letters must be submitted no later than Tuesday, June 30 and may be:

• Dropped off at the front office, or
• Emailed to burtonha@alachuaschools.net

If emailing your request, please use the subject line "Irby Classroom Request" to help us keep all submissions organized.

Thank you for your partnership and support!

Parents and community leaders-

The form attached below is to nominate parents for School Advisory Council members at Irby. The School Advisory Council (SAC) is a group of parents, teachers, staff, and community members who work together to support our school. This team helps review goals, share ideas, and give input on decisions that impact our students. The SAC committee typically meets four times per school year. Nominations for new members are accepted during April, with elections in May. You may self nominate, or nominate someone else (with their consent) by responding to this email. The deadline to nominate is April 30. Elections will then be held by this year SAC committee in May.

Dear Irby Families,

This morning at 8:30 AM, we successfully completed a scheduled Active Assailant Lockdown drill on campus.

Students and staff practiced our “LOCKDOWN! Locks, Lights, Out of Sight.” safety procedure. The drill went smoothly, and our students did a great job following directions.

These drills are an important part of keeping our school prepared and helping everyone know what to do in an emergency.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the front office.

Thank you for your continued support,

-The Irby Team

Reminder! Just 3 days until this great opportunity:

Irby Elementary Families — You’re Invited!

We are excited to invite our eagle families to a special evening designed to help kids and adults slow down, connect, and learn simple tools for calm.

Led by Curious Calm Kids, this event is made possible through the Catalyst for Change Grant awarded by the Education Foundation. This grant supports Irby Elementary’s ongoing work in social-emotional learning, including self-regulation, emotional awareness, focus, and positive connections.

During the evening, students and caregivers will move, breathe, play, and relax together. You will learn simple, developmentally appropriate strategies to support big feelings, transitions, and focus at home and school. Families will also receive a Curious Calm Kids take-home toolkit to continue practicing these skills together.
